Day 2

day2

First, Ken gave us an introduction about what we would be doing today.

Secondly, we went on a Photo Safari and took pictures that represented the 5 things we liked about ourselves.

9:30 – Break Time.

After the break, Ken taught us how to search images related to our posts and how to give the author credit (this is really important thing, never forget). Also, we had time to write in our blogs and read some blogs about the guest speakers of today. We saw some memes too.

Afterwards, it was time for our guest speakers Laura Gogia & Lee Skallerup.

Here’s the video of the talk: https://youtu.be/tMmtxPDuOPc

They talked us about how digital identity is not the right name, that it should be digital presence. They encouraged us to express ourselves not matter what other people thought. However, they told us to be careful and not to damage someone else’s privacy.

Later on, we had more time for our blogs and had a little break.

And because it was a double talk day, we had other two guest speakers: Alan Levine & Amy Burvall.

Here’s the video of the talk: https://youtu.be/wTY9heCdTJo

They talked us about how you can do anything you want in your blog because it is yours and that it is okay to be wrong.

And well, that was Day 2.

Reflection on Day 1

Here’s my reflection of the day:

When talking about the internet, it is never private. Although you may think it is because some social media have the option of “private”, it is not. People actually have access to their servers or simply, they may be hacked. However, this does not mean you should be scared of having a digital identity. You simply should be careful with what you share online (never post personal stuff that can get you in danger) and use the internet for good.

What you post online can either make you or break you.

DAY 1

Day 1 started with a Welcome, where Ken asked us to join the Facebook group of the course.

Afterwards, we had a guest speaker:  Dave Cormier

He talked us about his experience with Digital Identity, the advantages and the risks of it. Also, he answered some of our questions and doubts.

His advice was to never post anything that our mother would not be proud of or that we would not be able to defend on court, which was a funny but useful advice.

Another important advice: never post anything about bank accounts or important stuff like that.

After, we had a reflective activity where we wrote on a piece of paper the following:

1st side: a tweet-like-phrase that describe us.

2nd side: 5 things I like about myself, 5 things I would like to change about myself and 5 things people do not know about me.

We had a 30 minute break.

The next step after the break was to set up our blogs.

At 11:30, Ken showed us some videos about the next guest speakers.

And well, here I am.
