Sounds good Ken … Yep! Schedules are all over the place this time of the school year. I will be in Washington DC from December 11th through the 23rd. I will be back in the saddle at home on the 24th. I will have Internet access in DC, so I could do chat session from the nation’s capital if you think that might add some excitement and intrigue. Maybe the Obamas would be willing to join me.

This should be very interesting Frank. We’ve disconnected during exams (and my travel the last couple of weeks). Let’s get together for a chat soon perhaps with Carolina and plan our flipping adventures into 2016.

I once participated in an IATEFL online course for English as a second/foreign language teachers where using controversial topics to illicit conversation was presented as an effective technique for getting students to express themselves. The main aim is noticing and developing conversation skill to express opinions, agree/disagree, and to interrupt politely during a group panel discussion. Please take a look at my current blog post and offer some ideas for improvement. Thanks, Frank!

Comment on Unit 4 – Professional Educator by Frank https://kenscourses.com/OpenFlipFall2015/unit-4/#comment-11 Tue, 24 Nov 2015 18:12:26 +0000 http://kenscourses.com/OpenFlipFall2015/?page_id=1462#comment-11 Thinking about being a professional educator, I whole-heartedly agree with Carolina that teachers should seek out development opportunities without being prodded by a third party. If an educator isn’t internally motivated, how can they ever expect or hope that their students will be? We have to lead by example. Also, I’d like to restate the importance of building one’s personal learning network from both inside their discipline and outside if it in the periphery. Creativity and innovation connections are abundant if we only care to open our eyes and look near and far.

Comment on Unit 3 – Intentional Content by Frank https://kenscourses.com/OpenFlipFall2015/unit-3/#comment-10 Fri, 20 Nov 2015 20:04:13 +0000 http://kenscourses.com/OpenFlipFall2015/?page_id=1460#comment-10 Thanks for the Hangout on Air Ken and Caroline. It really helps to chat and explore the possibilities of teaching with other educators. Sometime we need gentle reminders that what we do needs to be intentional. What Carolina shared about getting a variety of material formats out to students really made me step back and appreciate what teachers do to meet student’s needs in a variety of different circumstances. For the most effective learning to take place, it really makes logical sense that content must be intentionally constructed and planned out. Thanks to both of you for sharing.

Excellent point Frank, I should make a quick video about that. I have the same problems with my students using Known and not enabling comments.

With the “Known” blogs, you activate commenting along this path: SITE CONFIGURATION>PLUGINS>PUBLIC COMMENTS (toggle to “Enabled”). Thanks!
