Now for the topic: Pillar of Flipping – Professional Educator
<\/strong><\/p>\n

The role of a Professional Educator is even more important, and often\u2028more demanding, in a Flipped Classroom than in a traditional one.<\/p>\n

During\u2028 class time, they continually observe their students, providing them with\u2028feedback relevant in the moment, and assessing their work.<\/p>\n

Professional\u2028 Educators are reflective in their practice, connect with each other to \u2028improve their instruction, accept constructive criticism, and tolerate \u2028controlled chaos in their classrooms.<\/p>\n

While Professional Educators take\u2028on less visibly prominent roles in a flipped classroom, they remain the\u2028 essential ingredient that enables Flipped Learning to occur.<\/p>\n

Consider your current status on thoughts on the following three statements:<\/p>\n

• I make myself available to all students for individual, small group, and class feedback in real time as needed.\u2028<\/li>\n
• I conduct ongoing formative assessments during class time through observation and by recording data to inform future instruction.\u2028<\/li>\n
• I collaborate and reflect with other educators and take responsibility for transforming my practice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    This (and each of the assignments) is divided into three pieces. I divide them in order of importance (mostly) to our learning as a group.<\/p>\n

    1. Discuss here PLEASE!\u00a0 It is important to have our own reflections on the material but just as important for ourselves and our colleagues is to share our point of view and see those of others. You should at least have a summary of what your submission is.<\/li>\n
    2. Post a short (60 seconds – 3 minutes) video screen capture\/recording of your reflections on the topic. Please post to YouTube (you can leave it as ‘unlisted’ or make it public, your choice) and embed that inside your blog post<\/li>\n
    3. Post a short essay (How long? Long enough, a single page even) of your thoughts on this to get them into written format. Video is great, but the written word creates a different type of reflection and also is much more amenable to searching. Please post this to your blog and also include in your blog the tag (or category) #Unit4<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
