3rd day of the journey

There are many places in the web, several social networks, platforms, tools, websites, services which are used by us either for personal purposes or for professional reasons, in some of those we participate passively (It means that we do not generate any content but we use it) and in some others we act as the active user (We make contributions to the content itself). So, today I found out which are the main services that I used and why I use them (see image below).

Today I also interviewed a guy from Brasil asking him what are his thoughts about the digital identity and the sharing of information. It is interesting the way he see things, the first thing I asked was “What do you think about the digital identity? What do you think about the sharing of information?” and he replied “You know Fabian, I believe society is wrong because they give a lot of importance of social network such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. so they want to post everything and share everything they can like they place where they are, the people with who they are, pictures of them and their families, where they live, age, and everything they can.. but what they don’t know it’s the risks they are being exposed to, the risks in the internet is not only about hackers but also about bad people such as kidnappers and people don’t realize how vulnerable they become when they share way too much information of themselves”.

We had a good discussion, and then I brought up the question “Do you think it is necessary or a good idea to have two facebook accounts one for personal stuff and the other one for professional purposes?” and he said “I don’t really encourage to own to facebook accounts for both contexts, I believe facebook should only be used for social and personal stuff and keep all the professional in other socials networks such as LinkedIn.”. We talked and talked about the importance of restricting your information and try to keep it as discrete as possible, avoid providing personal data for free.

Sometimes I feel like a should close my facebook account because honestly a lose way too much time in there but at the same time a have a good contact with my friends and people I know, but that’s something I must think deeply.
