Good practices among the software development area define the SCM. For all of the software projects that are under development or in a more advanced phase, enhancement on the reliability and quality of software is made by:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u2022 Providing structure for identifying and controlling documentation, code, interfaces, and databases to support all life-cycle phases<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Supporting a chosen development\/maintenance methodology that fits the requirements, standards, policies, organization, and management philosophy<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Producing management and product information concerning the status of baselines, change control, tests, releases, audits, etc.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong><em>There are some practices suggested when working under a\u00a0SCM:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identify and store artifacts in a secure repository.<\/li>\n<li>Control and audit changes to artifacts.<\/li>\n<li>Organize versioned artifacts into versioned components.<\/li>\n<li>Organize versioned components and subsystems into versioned subsystems.<\/li>\n<li>Create baselines at project milestones.<\/li>\n<li>Record and track requests for change.<\/li>\n<li>Organize and integrate consistent sets of versions using activities.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain stable and consistent workspaces.<\/li>\n<li>Support concurrent changes to artifacts and components.<\/li>\n<li>Integrate early and often.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure reproducibility of software builds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vanjrblog.wordpress.com\/2016\/08\/30\/scm-who-how\/\">But, how did all of this started?<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-135\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pearsonhighered.com\/samplechapter\/0321200195.pdf\">All this information was based on Pearsonhieghered, from the first chapter on their called &#8220;Sotware Engineering&#8221;, by Ian Sommerville.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><br \/>  <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/feeds.wordpress.com\/1.0\/gocomments\/charpple.wordpress.com\/135\/\"><img alt=\"\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/feeds.wordpress.com\/1.0\/comments\/charpple.wordpress.com\/135\/\" \/><\/a> <img alt=\"\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/pixel.wp.com\/b.gif?host=charpple.wordpress.com&#038;blog=115273996&%23038;post=135&%23038;subd=charpple&%23038;ref=&%23038;feed=1\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In this article,\u00a0the software engineering\u00a0\u00a0discipline called Software Configuration Management (SCM) will be explained.
