Nevertheless, this procedure might have never been used by students: This will cause some of them to waste their time and do everything on the last minute instead of just managing their time efficiently. This situation is stated in the video “How to Flip aClassroom – Inside and Out”.

I wasn’t familiar at all with this concept until I started the university. I like the idea because it does feel a like a more student centered class instead of the whole class being only focused in the teacher and maybe not much in learning. Some of my high school friends are also taking classes with a similar system, but they don’t like it at all.
I found this website that I think that portrays the concept of flipped classroom pretty well:
]]>Flipped Classroom is an innovative pedagogic system in which the traditional method of professors giving a lecture in the classroom and students doing homework activities about the lecture is literally flipped.
In a flipped classroom the professor gives the material to the students for them to review it outside the classroom. The class time is then used to solve any doubts about the previously studied information and also to do activities that reinforce or exemplify what students already know. The idea of flipping the classroom and homework activities might not seem very complex at first sight, however there is much more behind a flipped classroom than only reading or watching videos at home about a certain topic and then doing exercises in the classroom.
In my opinion a flipped classroom demands a much greater commitment from students and professors than the traditional method; for instance, the student takes a more active role in his learning process. The student must read, do research and try to learn by himself as much as possible with the advantages of having direct access to information and being able to go through the material at his own speed. Besides student’s extra effort, professors face the challenge of preparing the material that students are expected to review at their homes. Videos, e-books, and other online resources are being produced now by professors to help their students learn at their own speed. By using multimedia resources and online platforms, students don’t get frustrated if they don´t understand the first time a certain topic, they can watch the video lesson all the times they need without slowing others that might find easy that particular topic.
To conclude this entry I’d like to mention a book I recently read called “¡Crear o morir!: la esperanza de Latinoamérica y las cinco claves de la innovación” by the argentine journalist Andrés Oppenheimer, in which among other interesting things, the flipped classroom singularities were discussed by Salman Khan, the creator of Khan Academy. For those who don´t know, Khan Academy is an organization designed to change education by sharing knowledge at no cost. In its web site khanacademy.org there is a whole educational platform that guides students through the multiple subjects and topics they want to learn. The website provides videos (at this moment more than 6500), interactive activities and also monitors the progress of the student. Reading the interview of Oppenheimer with Khan made me realize that the flipped classroom is not only a better way to study and use class time more effectively, but it´s also a democratizing innovation for education around the world. Think about it, with so many knowledge currently being poured on internet in the form of videos and other multimedia formats, everyone with an internet connection has access to a great quality education at no cost. In fact Salman Khan said he created Khan Academy “to provide a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere”.

This method actually seems pretty interesting. I hadn’t heard about it before. It seems more efficient because regular lectures can get boring sometimes. You have to be careful though, because most of the work relies on the student. #WSQ02
I found this video that explains what flipped learning is not, pretty easy to understand actually.

For this course, i think is better to learn in a flipped way, because we can learn more by doing stuff by ourselves, instead of hearing the teacher giving a long boring class about what is a program, how to program, definition of function, compiler, etc. Our skills improve in a faster way if we just go for it, using every single source in our reach; obviously we need a teacher to accept the way we work and advance, and also we need him to lead us in the right direction, make suggestions and help us when we just do not know what to do (and to teach us about the importance of the bananas).
We are able to do thing by ourselves and that’s great, and the class time can be used for resolve questions and everybody is happy.
I think is all I have to say, here I’ll put a photo of a plant, remembering you that the Earth is beautiful:
Oh, and the video of flipped learning is over here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzMFdDT6FSA
]]>A problem with a flipped classroom can occur, when the student enjoys his freedom of being independent too much. But unreliable students will also have problems in traditional forms teaching.
For a group of motivated students and a well prepared teacher I guess flipped classroom is a great thing.
]]>Flipped Learning is a way were the studies is not center in the teacher it’s center in the student, also there’s anothers very important differences between the traditional and flipped class you can see it in the following image.
I like this method because it really help you to be independent and not only depend in what teacher say.
Its cool but also is a little bit difficult because i’m used to be in a traditional class so I will need to adapt to this new way for learning
If you are like the girl in the top and you still don’t know nothing, you could watch this cool video
Of course there are a lot of benefits:
I think this is a nice way to learn, but it needs more time. In order to understand everything you need to take to the classroom, you’ll spend more time in front of the computer trying to build your knowledge.
I found this page very interesting: http://www.theflippedclassroom.es/what-is-innovacion-educativa/ -it has a video about flipped learning.
I hope that this course will be as good as I expect

]]>So that’s what a flipped classroom looks like. I had heard the phrase being used before, to refer to a class in which the students watched videos at home and worked in the classroom. However I wasn’t too familiar with the concept, and I must say adjusting to the format is going to take some getting used to.
Having said that, I’m hoping to make the best out of the model and have more freedom to learn by myself. I’m also hoping this will be the case with my classmates, as well.
I’ll leave this video about the topic here. It’s worth checking out!
