Intentional content ( week 3 )

Hi there again, here are my reflections for this week, a though content for me this week, probably because I´m better at incidental content teaching as on intentional content.
Let me explain: I´ve been used to work with a structured method to teach, no matter what material ( In the netherlands I thaugt economics and bookkeeping and in Mexico I teach English and German ). So creating intentional content I left over to the ones who created the book or method. Always thinking they are better , more specialized to do so. Ok, I chose the one I was going to use. My role was to live up these contents with examples, videos and other materials which in my opninion are closer to the students. Real life examples to show what they are learning can be important in students life, videos and music which in an incidental way can contribute to language learning. Sometimes the line between incidental and contentional learning can be very be very neat or tiny. During the last week I read a lot on the subject and found a book : ¨Introduction to Instructed Second Language Acquisition¨ by Shawn Loewen. In this book there were examples of how incidental content could also be intentional, depending on the way you see it. The same confusion I read in Benjamin Steward´s blog.
My conclusion at the end of this week 3 is that I´m more aware of thinking on- and planning content than I was before, no matter if it´s intentional or incidental.
Have a good weekend to everybody and hope to hear from you !
