Summary of the Whole Semester…

--Originally published at TC3045 – Israel's Blog

I want to start off by apologizing, I’m really sorry about not posting on the supposed dates, which were meant to be Fridays and Sundays, this semester has been awfully stressful and busy. Luckily, I took many notes in a sketch book that I always carry around on what we were going to do on the week and what we accomplished. So, I think the way on how I’m going to write this is in form of a list, describing each task to be accomplished and then what tasks needed more time or were more difficult.

So, let’s get started…

  • Expectations for week 3
    • Study the framework and get familiar with it.
    • Get familiar with the project and the code that is already there.
  • What we did for week 3
    • Due to exams coming and partial project in need to be finished we only got to know the framework but there is still much to learn.
  • Expectations for week 4
    • We kept studying the framework, but I think that for the next two weeks we are going to put this project in standby.
  • What we did for week 4
    • We didn’t do much, we just created a Trello to keep track of what we are doing
  • Expectations for week 5
    • We are in exams week and at least from my part, I stopped, just for this week my studies from the framework.
  • What we did for week 5
    • So everybody stopped learning the framework but we plan to get together to see what we’ve learned.
  • Expectations for week 6
    • This week I hope we finally get to sign the confidentiality contracts.
  • What we did for week 6
    • We did sign the confidentiality format, and we are going to get started next week.
  • Expectations for week 7

Expectations for this week

Well, as I mentioned in sunday’s post, we changed what the project was going to be about, so we are heling our friend Memo with his bussines’s web-page which turns out to be some sort of web-app at the same time. He said we had to sign some papers (I’m guessing some confidentiality stuff) and then we are good, we are going to be using the CodeIgniter framework, so there’s a lot to learn (I’ve never used it).

The Project – The Beginning

So far we have nothing!

This week we only agreed on how we want it to loook at the end, like the ideal looks and content that has to meet at the end.

We assigned a day to meet and make some progress, and maybe next week we are going to deliver what every member is going to be working on.

Being working on making a newspaper its a first for me but i want to see what can I learn.

Pre-Mortem Analysis

The beginning of a new semester…

This semester seems like its going to be a very interesting, stressful and yet full of joy, this is my girlfriend’s last semester, so Im going to feel somewhat lonely. But I’m looking forward to learn a lot of new stuff because I’m going to be working at the same micro-enterprise that i was working at the semester before and at the same time I’m going to be working with my Professor Guillermo Rivas doing a videogame from scratch.

In this class (Calidad & Pruebas de Software), I expect to improve my code quality; by making it more efficient or more organized. I expect to make a good project but I don’t really want to make something that’s very difficult because making some time in my schedule its going to be complicated, so I would like to work only on class hours, I’ll make a more detailed post later.

So, getting back to the fact that this class was given a new “format” by my Professor Ken Bauer, it seems nice to get a grade based on the number of posts that you were able to publish, because given my schedule, it allows me to just post every sunday before school or monday after school and still get my points; It also serves a way of thinking about where our semester, class, learning or even project is going.
