Digital Skills & Digital Literacy

--Originally published at Título del sitio

Digital skills mean that you can follow a step-by-step process of creating an email account. Digital literacy means that you can recognize spam, know why it is being sent, and understand how email providers use filters to minimize potential harm.

Digital skills would focus on which tool to use and how to use it , while digital literacy would include in-depth questions: When would you use Twitter instead of a more private forum? Why would you use it for advocacy? Who puts themselves at risk when they do so?

visitor & resident

The Digital Visitor and Resident model provides a framework to depict how user preference and habit motivates engagement with technology and the web. V&R is commonly described as a continuum , with two modes of online engagement at either end, making a separation between different approaches to engagement. People operating in Visitor mode have a defined goal or task, and select an appropriate online tool to meet their needs as they arise. For example, using a smartphone to search the internet for directions to a local bookstore, thus finding a particular piece of information online and then going offline to complete the task.fb_img_1475074566336

Identity

--Originally published at Título del sitio

Digital identity is the network or Internet equivalent to the real identity of a person or entity  when used for identification in connections or transactions from PCs, cellphones or other personal devices. Trusting the link between a real identity and a digital identity first requires someone to validate the identity, or in other words, to prove you are who you say you are.
