What I learned

--Originally published at My Thoughts Corner

Blogging was an all new experience to me, sharing my thoughts via the internet is something i didn’t find imagined myself doing anytime soon, even social networks such as Twitter or Facebook, the way iWeek hashtags became trending topics its amazing, how the internet connects people, the videoconferences with those who really know their way on setting up and expressing a digital identity, showing the world who you are through the power of the internet0

I felt that this workshop enlightened me on how to make use of a tool as powerful as this, and being only the tip of the iceberg, with more time in hands, and clearer goals such as helping people out with the same interests i have, making friends from all over the world, communicating with them and even teaching them stuff I know.

I really liked how this workshop came out, from being pretty much lost in the interweb, to having a little place where i can share my thoughts, show off what i do and how i do it.

When a Game stops being just a Game

Im going to talk about something i rarely talk about with people, I love playing videogames, specially on PC, i rarely share this because well, playing videogames itself its not “cool”, but well, the point of this blog entry, is to share how a game can become important in our lives. Just this past weekend i had the chance to experience how a Pro League of Legends player lives, Riot Games, the company that owns the most popular videogame of all times, paid me and a big group of friends, a trip to Mexico City, where we played the semi finals of League of Legends “Campeonato Intercolegial Mexicano” 4 teams reached this stage of the tournament, 3 of them from ITESM (yay!) 2 from our very own campus, and the other team from Campus Monterrey.

Well, at this stage you can start to feel how this videogame changes your life, you start meeting people online, I’ve made a lot of friends thanks to this game, along them Diego Gracia, who is on iTec as well! And to be honest, playing just for fun is amazing, specially with a group of friends, and that’s just how i felt it, even though we lost the semifinal against Videogaming, another team from Campus Guadalajara, the fact that we were all friends made this experience an unforgettable trip, that I’d love repeating next year

The magic of the internet

The internet is, a universe by itself, where you can find everything that you need with just a few clicks, to have a remote idea of where you’re located in this vast place, you can draw some kind of map, with the sites you use the most, categorized by how you use them, theres 2 axis, Y and X, here, the Y axis determines how you use the site, whether as a professional website, or a personal place to express yourself with those who are close to you, and the X axis, determines the position you asume in the site, as a visitor or a resident.

In my case, the websites i use the most are Google, Yahoo Mail and Outlook, so thats why i put them in the center in a big box, i use them everyday several times a day, i put Spotify as a visitor because even tho i have an account, i dont use it as much, here, in the personal-visitor corner we can find sites I use to burn some time when im not doing anything important, like 9 gag, and reddit, on the other hand, on the Personal-Resident corner, i put sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. because all of these sites require an active account to work properly, and i use them a lot to chat with my friends.

I feel that the internet helps connecting people, because it makes distances non existant, you can have friends from all over the world, and chat with them as if they were right next to you! That’s what i find amazing about the internet, making friends online is cool, i’ve met some really cool people via Videogames or even the YouTube comment section.internet-high-five

What’s blogging?

--Originally published at reyesmacario

Blogging is the easiest way to express your opinion on the internet, blogging for yourself or blogging about things you like is a powerful tool to show the world who you are, what you like and what you’re aiming for.

For this, there’s different tools you can use, according to what your goal is, for example, a social network like facebook, is the perfect tool to socialize (Therefore its called a “social” network). Theres sites for creative people to show their talents such as Tumblr, and sites for those who like taking picture and sharing them with people alike.

But these sites lack something a blog such as wordpress can offer, all of the aforementioned have a pre defined layout, where you just fill the pages with their information, and here, in wordpress you can personalize everything, I’m going to use this blog to show some funny pictures i find online, regarding iWeek.

iWeek 2016

This year’s iWeek i decided to join Ken Bauer’s “Digital Identity” Course, i feel this course is going to have a positive impact on me because i barely use social networks as a work tool, and more like a massive distraction daily.

This WordPress is going to be about my personal iWeek experience in 2016.13346103_10154309287019009_257921536318017572_o
