#MeMyself&I #AlwaysFerst This class we learned about story telling and how to make videos. It was very interesting because I have never made a video before and I loved showing my creative side. You can make a video of anything you want so you have to think out of the box. I cant upload my video because I used a famous song. But it was a ver interesting thing to start and discover how to make my own video. I can upload my video but the picture that I used for the cover of this page is the beginning of my video.
What I learned this iweek is to not be shy online! You need to have online presence and you can blog anything you want only if you are careful! #loveiweek #seeyah
On the last day of our #semanai course, Diego Zavala was kind enough to join us to share his expertise on video storytelling and video editing. He showed us videos about how storytelling has evolved with technology, and the different methods of telling a story on video. You can have a video with a narration, or a video with music and pictures. An animation is a bit more complicated, but looks ways better when you share it.
Diego also shared with us two websites for royalty-free media such as music and footage:
We edited our videos from our Video Safari we had yesterday, Trying to make a short one minute film by putting together the clips we took and a few sounds.
My videoclip could not be uploaded because WordPress is greedy and wants money if you want to add videos.
Today we had a visit by Diego Zavala in which we learned about the history of video production and short films.
What has really been a game changer is the fast-paced development of technology since it provided access to quality cameras and the internet allowed widespread diffusion of said short films.
We learned about how people around the world can produce short films about simple stuff but still transmit a good story.
8am to 9am – Open discussion, Ask Me Anything with Ken.
9am to 10:30am – Guest Speaker – Diego Zavala
Assignment from Diego: We did this on Thursday (look up). #VideoSafari (and photos) of you doing what you like most.
Today I’m going to write about how to watch your weight. I am no health expert, but I want to share what I did that helped me lose about 12 kilograms in a year.
So first of all, let me tell you that your health always comes first, so if you are thinking on losing weight or starting a diet, you have to be careful of not harming your physical and mental well-being.
So, what I did was that I started to be more conscious of what I was eating per day. I realized that I was eating too many bread, cookies, and chips. I also found out that I was bloated almost all the time. Above all, I was getting lazier, so I started skipping my Crossfit classes. It was very shocking when I found out that a pair of shorts I bought a few months before didn’t fit anymore. I was very upset, so I did this:
I stopped eating too many carbs, which means: no more bread nor pasta (at least until I reached my ideal weight), and of course, NO JUNK FOOD.
Milk was causing me to bloat almost everyday, so I stopped drinking it.
I started to eat more vegetables and fruits, and I also drank more water than I used to.
I stopped skipping Crossfit!
What I did was very simple and it worked out for me just fine. So if you want to lose weight or watch your weight, just watch your calorie income. No junk food at least for a while. Once you reach your ideal weight, you can have a treat once in a while! There’s no need to suffer. Also, you have to work out at the gym or take some classes from 4 days to 6 per week. Eat fruits and vegetables, exchange your soda for something healthier like tea or naturally-flavored water. You can also have a home-made smoothie. Oh! And it is very important that you never skip a meal, for it can affect your metabolism and slow it down, making it difficult to lose weight.
But always remember, be conscious that your mental and physical health come first, so if you begin to feel bad, reach out to your doctor!
Today we realize it’s Thursday and Semanai i is getting close to an end. Ken gave us very good tips to record and edit audio, with an app called Audacity. I had already learned a little bit about it in my first semester of high school, so I was a little familiar with how things work. As always our first task is to do our daily blog, which at this point got to be a little bit of a natural thing, but i’d like to get to upload them at a more regular time.
Out of all the things we did today, Ken gave us excellent tools to make better and easier our lives, these ones go from one to create videos and the other one to find blogs of our interest to follow on wordpress, there’s an immense variety that could be of our interest; here are some of them:
Security always seems like a topic that people tend to ignore more than needed, “We’re never really safe online” is a possible argument to avoid the extra hassle of double authentication or keeping more passwords, specially with the events of big companies getting hacked as an example, recently with yahoo getting a whole lot of user information hacked from it.
I’m one of the people that find it difficult to keep tons of different passwords for every account, specially cuz of not wanting to have a notepad with them or a program saving them, but in the end that keeps me more at risk than safe which might be a good reason to change that. Today we were searching for new tools to learn for our online usage and one of the ones mentioned was Last Pass.
Last Pass is a program where you can keep all your passwords for all your different websites stored in an encrypted form and in a sort of vault for you to check when needed, all saved through a single master password and a possible double authentication.
The thought of having an external program always makes me anxious, what if they have access to my passwords?, are they actually safe?, is pretty much what I think when considering these programs. The one difference here is the recommendation of our course teacher who has used this program for several years, which makes me more confident to try it out.
Now the only problem is to go around all my accounts and make a completely different and new password for all of them. That’s gonna be problematic.
Yes… I am still sick. BUT(!), it is getting better. The day started not as bad as the last 3 days and I feel like it is getting better. Still got a running nose but that is more or less it. Making progress! WUHU! I know what you are thinking right now…
But no, that is it for my complaints today! No more talking about my flu. schhh!
So what is on our schedule for today?
Starting of with checking out some of the workers of the boys and girls sitting around me during this week. I have seen quite a few really good ones and I am currently following one blog. Yeah, it is the blog of a friend of mine, but.. you know? I am just picky and can not decide whom to follow. Anyways, left a comment here and there – let us move on!
Learn new stuff – every day!
So, apparently Lee Skallerup has an amazing collection of very useful recourses and tools on her blog => Click me!
There is quite a lot stuff that you can learn, “copy” and simply start using on your blog. How do networks work? What is trolling and how to avoid trolling? But do we actually want to avoid trolling? (Thought of the day) Orrrrr Algorithms? I know… You don not want to encounter the last topic – but let me tell you, that is the real sh*t.
Photo-Safari? Whaaaat?
Another day, another photo-safari! This time – What do we like the most? What do we like to do in our free time? Not sure whether I am going to cook today, but if I am going to you will get a picture of that in here! I might add it later during the week though…
Guest Speaker Time!
And nooooow, talking to us from a country which is located more than 12,486 kilometres away from Mexico (Thanks technology!!!)…. Maaahaaaa Baaaaaliiiiii! (Did you read that with the voice of that guy calling out the two opponents at a boxing match?)
Maha Bali!!! Go check her out. No, honestly, click on that link. Now.
Got curious while checking out her twitter? Wait, you telling me that you still have not been to her twitter? Go there. Maha Bali!
Guess you are curious about her now… So here are some more readings:
We started the workshop with reading others blog posts. I was surprised by good job some of my classmates are doing. And the good news is I got more views on my blog. Then I read some interesting articles about blogging and discovered some useful web pages and apps for doing videos, communicating, checking grammar, creating headlines…. There are the links which can help you to find them easier:
