Don’t be an easy target #5Th Day #NowWhat? #EducationTechnology #SemanaI

dontbefamous

This whole week was really interesting and productive I could learn more about the traces that we unconsciously leave in the Internet, I started to make my own research and I ended up amazed and scared about all the information that Facebook, Amazon, etc.. take from us.

So these are the most important advices that I could take in order to protect your identity and your information:

  • Do not give any personal information in social networks (cellphone, home address, age, family members information)
  • Please, stop posting every single thing about what are you doing and where you are. I know it’s really cool to do it but we must not only protect ourselves from hackers but also from malicious peoples such as kidnappers and who knows what else.
  • Don’t become famous… Seriously if you are not famous people won’t be that interested on hacking your accounts.
  • If you start to have a strong argumentation, aggression or any  online-fight please stop… Don’t make enemies and become a target for free, if you don’t feed them they’ll go away.
  • Give important information only to those trusted entities and only when required such as banks. (Although I strongly prefer to do those things in person because I don’t really trust giving that kind of information on the internet).
  • Please try to keep your social stuff where it belongs and don’t give any information for free.

All I have to say is “Thanks Ken for this amazing experience and for sharing your knowledge” we as students need more people with these kind of ideas because education is constantly evolving and it is necessary to improve our methodologies all the time.

Case or Skin?

--Originally published at The  tech

When talking about protecting our devices, there is a huge inconvenient if we want full protection: aesthetics. Apple products are created with profound care on the way they look and the ending result of this is a beautiful tech piece. The problem is maintaining it intact. Dropping it or getting scratches is easier than what you would even imagine and today I’ll suggest 2 options for you to protect your device but also keep it looking good, as Apple intended to.

First, for those who like the slim feel of their iPhones but would like to add some grip and a little bit of protection, then skins might be the right option for you. cfSkins do protect the iPhone from getting scratches but won’t avoid dents if the phone experiences drops or something like so. Also, buying a skin might make you save some money since most of the times these retail for around $10 to $20 USD and they likely come in 2-Pack options. There are tons of wcb.pngsites that offer cool skins for you and there are a lot of designs or patterns. Some of the sites I would recommend for getting these type of skins are:

dbrand / iCarbons / Slikwraps

Another option for those who prefer protecting their phone at a higher level, the solution is getting a case. The problem when getting a case is that most of the time, the design of the phone itself is sacrificed by putting a case on it since case manufacturers mostly focus on their design and not on the iPhone’s design itself.

Although there are also cases that still let the iPhone show its design,  getting a case iphone-7-plus-silicone-case-colors-imagemade by Apple is one of the best options I would recommend. Apple cases aren’t cheap but you’ll pay for what you get. There are 2 offered materials in their lineup: Silicone or Leather cases. The silicone cases retail for $35 USD for 4.7” iPhone models  and $39 USD for the 5.5” iPhone models with 9 different colors for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. These cases offer protection and also maintain what Apple intended when designing the iPhone: seamless design.
iPhone-7-Plus-Silicone-Case-Colors-Image.pngFor the leather cases, price tag is a little bit higher for these natural, high quality leather cases. These retail for $45 and $50 USD and there are 7 color options offered including a Product RED option. These have a more premium feel and rock some metal buttons that work just as you would expect on your iPhone without a case and they give a nice look by combining leather with aluminum.

Apple Cases

It’s now time for you to decide whether you prefer having a much slimmer device and get a skin for it or maybe a case will fit your style and day activities much better.

Fifth day

Today we received the company of Diego Zavala, a current professor of the Tecnologic of Monterrey and he talked to us about the importance of the production of videos that one single person can make to share his/her way of living or simply to express what are their thoughts about a topic. He also recommend us many tools to create our own content that may help to develop videos with great quality.

Learning to learn

--Originally published at #iTecGDA – METANOIA

I believe the hardest part about learning from the Internet is to learn how to learn, sounds completely idiotic but it’s true. If you don’t know how to look for the information you want, if you don’t already know which sources are reputable and more importantly, if you don’t have the will and the curiosity to learn well you are screwed.

I know a lot of people that consider me a god of computers simply because I know how to google or because I can focus for 15 minutes to find a solution to my problem. It’s like typing in the search bar “acer aspire 15 fan problem solved” and then writing a date close to you is sooooo hard. Guess that’s why IT is a decent work field.

Having said that though I’d say that  the biggest site I’ve learnt from has been Reddit, it’s just such a nest of voices, a multitude of people from all over the world sharing their own personal experiences or their methodically done studies. Everyone coming together for one common motive. To be a pedantic jerk and prove someone wrong. I’ve come to realize that the best way to get the right answer to a problem you have or to earn is to write an answer you know is wrong and wait for someone to correct you.

Literally a subreddit for every team you want, you like fitness?  We have it. You like videogames? Also have it. You want relationship advice? They’ll all tell you to break up but we have them too. Dear god we even have  a subreddit called CarsFuckingDragonsFuckingCars.  I haven’t been disappointed more than a couple of times. I’ve learn from every particular interest I have and I have also acquired new ones there. Thanks to Reddit I’ve grown in wit and  lost weight. 100% if you don’t become a  Northern Aryan God you get your money back guaranteed. God do I love to ramble.

Day 5 -Already over?! :(

--Originally published at My daily adventure in the "Internet fingerprint" course

That is it.

The last day just started and I feel like we just “began”. After finally getting into the topic it seems to be over. Which of course does not mean that my “digital identity”-journey will end here. But… But, that will mean, no more overloaded Ken jumping around…

We started the day a little bit later than usual and watched a video of Derek Muller. If you do not now his name and never heard of “Veritasium” you should really check out his Youtube-channel. This guy rocks and you will learn something new in every video of him – not as back in the days, when you were young. School teachers probably made it every 2-3 weeks that you learned something new IN school and that you did not have to repeat it a thousand times at home until you knew all about it.

After that, Diego Zavala took over the lecture. Diego works in the video production specialised in the documentary video production.

How do we tell a “story” in a video? Empowering?

There are different ways, obviously, and it is hard to say which way is the best way. After watching many videos and getting a lot of advises, we were assigned a task in which we had do make a 1-minute video about the stuff that we like to do (Photo/video-safari).

I did not make it in time and therefore I am not able to upload it yet!

Did someone say guest speaker?

Rebecca Hogue and Helen DeWaard joined in today and talked about digital identity shaping and again we heard some more stuff about blogging.

Here are some links if you like to further investigate:

Rebecca: (Student) Blogging and the Fact of Other People

Helen:  My RenovationsMapping Digital Literacy and Practice (pdf)

It was really fun to listen to those two women and we had some awesome questions for them!

This week comes to en end, but hopefully not everyone is going to stop blogging. I think it is a really cool way to spread the word and establish some sort of reputation in the internet. Not sure whether I will continue this blog here, but I might start another blog in the future! Anyways, thanks to Ken, the lecture that seems to never loose his energy and motivation and of course thanks to all the guest speakers that we had during “Semana I”

Hope to see you guys around, cheers!

Sobre lo políticamente (in)correcto

--Originally published at Digital Identity

Vayamos a ofender pues.

Me llevo mucho de estos dos días. Gracias a Ken, a Maha.

Annual Country Club 2016

The Annual of the Guadalajara Country Club its close to come, I’ve been practicing soooo hard, really wish I do well!

I met a caddie who really has the same thoughts as me, so we are doing a pretty good team. I’m trying to do the same routine that I did when I played the Junior World Cup, sooo I will keep talking about this journey in the next two weeks! Keep in tune.

Day 5 Final Conclusions!

--Originally published at Kuan's Journey

Day 5:

First of all an apology for not being with you guys yesterday, I felt sick all day.

For the first time I will make a video about what I love. I don’t have material for it, but I’ll do my best…
So we had an hour to do a video about what we love and it really took me about an hour and a half to do a video of 1 min hahah, but I will upload it and it really talks by itself, hope you like it

“Video”

Talking about the conference with Rebecca Hogue and Helen DeWaard, what I really got from this conference was, “you should not feed the bullies or trolls from the internet” (speaking about cyber bullying). This is a common topic, and important for me; honestly, I had never being cyber-bullied but I am afraid of that if I become a blogger either on video or writing. That is the reason I had never been a blogger, despite the fact that I am not that good at writing nor editing but this is something I’d love to do. It is a way of expressing myself and about connecting with people all around world so my question is why not.
Finally… “be true to who you are”, when blogging and in life. Something that I mentioned once or twice throughout the week but this is something the special guests have been saying frequently, and I agree. Event though you are behind a little screen and your viewers or readers, you have to express who you really are because it’s you essence and you gotta be really who you are so you can be believable, and people to connect. In my case I write specifically the way I really think, even though I don’t express it that much, but this is a way I would talk to my friends, with the truth.

My final conclusion for the week is:
To be honest I really did not thought I would like this much this course, I thought it was going to be more for computer designers and stuff and me studying for a bachelor in accounting and finance it was like, this is not for me I don’t know why I got into this, but it result to get to know your own self. Digital Identity its pretty much the same as IDENTITY, I got to express myself for the first time in my life and I will continue doing this. I won’t let my viewers down!
