Flipped Learning #WSQ04

When I heard my professor say that we are going to use a new style of learning I thought it would be as other friends that already took this course told me. But no, this time Ken Bauer decided to apply his new study method. Now everyone was “Free”, not exactly free because we still need a grade for the Institution.

School.jpg

With this new study method that Ken Bauer is using I learned everything I needed to learn and more relaxed than ever.

Everytime I have this class I come to the classroom and feel as I actually need to be. This class was the only one in which I felt this. I learned at my own rate, and I finished every work in time and well done.

This image is what I was supposed to feel every Tuesday and Friday, but with this new learning experience I felt the opposite.

In my experience in this first part of the Semester with this type of learning I lived a completely new school sensation. This should be used in every class, in every school. Believe me, there’s nothing better than not having to worry in delivering projects in a small period of time and in top of that a ridiculous grade for your pesonal effort. I was actually learning at my own rhythm and not coming to a borring class in which I need to follow at everytime the professor while taking forced notes.

ABOLISH GRADES -tec21-

#WSQ04 – Flipped Learning / #AbolishGrades

Its very intersting concept to abolish grade, because sometimes you know all the stuff that you have seen in class but your grade does not match with you knowledge. If you want to learn you will do it no matter what, and if you want to lose your time youre gonna do it and its not the teacher fault if students didnt came with any doubts to the classroom. But by grading them you are adding compromise to just do the stuff in order to pass and not in order to learn.

Flipped Learning

Flipped Learning

#AbolishGrading

All this thing about learning by myself and no-grading its actually new for me and for many of us. At first this could sound really difficult because it is something we are not used to, but when the time passes you get to notice all the things that u have learn and mostly by yourself or asking to your classmates.

This way of learning can teach you not only the topics you are suposed to learn, also it teach you to be responsible, organize and helps you to learn to ask, something which I considere really difficult.

Today I can say that abolish grading its weird, yes, but even it is, I like it necause I can see all those things I learn and Im proud of it.

WHAT DO WE THINK ABOUT FLIPPED LEARNING, and Ken’s way to evaluate?

Well to begin I would like to say that Lecturing in front of a class can be boring for both the students and the teacher, and the outcome is sleeping students and no learning at all, the way teacher try to teach us is unreliable at this time, because most students would rather work on their own instead of hearing to the teacher for 1:15 hours, that is the main problem with having a lecturing class, instead what the flipped learning is asking for the students to help themselves to learn, by working in teams or asking everyone in order classrooms whether they know or not, students may also ask for help of the teacher, but always remembering that the main teachers are ourselves.

Another thing to talk about is the way Ken evaluates his students, to me this is the perfect way, because we show ourselves what we are capable of, and in case we couldn’t do it, it is ok because we have our fellow classmates and friends who might help us easily. By abolishing grades, we don’t have the pressure to know that we need to study everything a night before to “pass” the parcial. WE JUST SHOW WHAT WE CAN DO, AND WHAT WE KNOW!!!

Hello my friends!! Today I´m going to talk about a little bit about flipped learning and what I think about it.

First of all, the flipped learning (as the name suggest) is different than the usual method of learning, in the flipped learning method you don’t have pressure and you have to learn by yourself, the pressure is as much as you want, I will leave some videos and links with more information:

http://www.theflippedclassroom.es/what-is-innovacion-educativa/

In my opinion (and experience) I think is a good method, in fact I think is better than the usual method, but you need to be very responsable, because the teacher won’t teach you, yeah probably the teacher will help when you don’t understand, but the flipped learning is learning by your self, that is ok, I guess.

Ok ok, I know I’m a little late… well, very late to be posting this WSQ, but the point is to do it and learn while doing it right? There are no due dates 🙂 . After watching the video a I got a little excited. That seriously looks like a better way of learning. The Tec should apply that method of watching the lesson at home and then solving questions in class. I think there is a a bright future ahead with learning processes. In ken’s class it might seem like he isn’t teaching you anything but in fact he is doing just what he needs to do. I have learned so much in his class even though he only gave us one lecture (the first day of class), it’s surprising.

From the three links that ken gave us, I think the one that I liked the most was this one An A+ student regrets his grades because what he says is so true. I don’t want to brag but over the years I too have gotten good grades and to be honest I don’t remember a lot of the things that I saw in previous classes. Lets be straight you don’t  need to be smart to get good grades, you don’t need to know the information. All you need is some imagination and “maña” to get into your professors head. I personally hate History class and believe I got good grades in that class but I hardly remember even who Benito Juarez is. I don’t even remember what I did to ace that class.

On the other hand there is science. I love science, I kind of a nerd because I remember studying math and chemistry all by myself when I was little. The first semester at the
